It's advisable that you try to have your chimney swept before the winter months, as October onwards is extremely busy and I will struggle to fit you in!
About Me...(Please accept my apologies if you cant get hold of me straight away...I may be on duty...but I will get back to you as soon as possible).
 I am a serving full time Fireman in Poole and also a highly recommended Chimney Sweep! Over the last 20 years, I have seen and dealt with the consequences of having a chimney fire and strongly recommend prevention rather than cure! I offer a fully insured, clean and reliable service within your home, combining traditional sweeping methods with modern day standards. With the method I use for sealing off the fireplace opening, approximately 95% of the time I can use my specially made "Soot Sheet"
This, as you can see from the photos, is adhered to the fire surround using a high quality tape. The vacuum is then attached to the central "brushed" section, keeping the soot and debris contained within the Fireplace during sweeping. For the other 5%, I adapt !  A professional vacuum containing HEPA filtration is used during the sweeping, while a tough canvas sheet is laid on the floor for protection and cleanliness.
Why & When... To aid the prevention of chimney fires and reduce the risk of dangerous fume emissions from blocked heating appliances, flueways and chimneys. Chimneys need to allow free passage of dangerous combustion gasses. By having your chimney swept on a regular basis, soot and creosote can be removed, helping to prevent a chimney fire. Cleaning will also increase the efficiency of some appliances by simply cleaning out the soot, cobwebs and debris.
The sweeping frequencies below are mainly for guidance. Frequency will depend on a number of factors including: Type of fuel, appliance used, duration of use, moisture content of wood/fuel and type of chimney. The following recommendations come from the relevant industry organisations;
