Hi, I’m Mike Chamberlain, based in Hale Village, Liverpool. I pride myself on being friendly, honest, and reliable. Chimney sweeping is not just a job to me; it’s my passion. I thoroughly enjoy what I do and consider myself lucky to meet new and interesting people every day while I’m out sweeping.

When it comes to my work, I never compromise on quality. I use the most modern chimney sweeping and dust extraction equipment to ensure the highest standard of service. To guarantee the safety of your chimney, I also conduct a smoke test after each sweep.

This means I’m authorised to provide insurance approved certificates. Additionally, I have full public liability insurance to provide complete peace of mind to my clients.

What is Rotary Power Sweeping?

Rotary Power Sweeping offers a superior and efficient cleaning solution for chimneys and flues. Unlike traditional chimney sweep tools, it reduces surface tension and guarantees excellent cleaning performance.

This method involves attaching a brush or suitable head appliance to rods connected to a drill. The rotating motion of the drill effectively eliminates soot, creosote, and other debris, leaving your flue or chimney thoroughly cleaned.

Why do I need my chimney swept?

Ensuring a chimney is clean and clear is essential to prevent the passage of dangerous combustible gases. Regular sweeping removes soot and creosote deposits, reducing the risk of chimney fires and removing any obstructions such as cobwebs or nesting material. This not only reduces the risk of carbon monoxide entering the room, a poisonous and flammable gas that can cause serious health issues and even be fatal, but also improves the burning efficiency of your appliance, saving you money on fuel costs. Additionally, many insurance providers now require a Certificate of Chimney Sweeping from a certified professional sweep.

How often should my chimney be swept?

The suggested frequencies for chimney sweeping, as advised by professional chimney associations, are as follows. However, the actual frequency may vary based on several factors including the type of fuel, the appliance utilized, frequency and duration of usage, wood moisture content, and the type of chimney.

Smokeless fuel: It is recommended to sweep the chimney at least once a year.

Wood: It is recommended to have the chimney swept on a quarterly basis when it is in use.

Coal: It is recommended to have the chimney swept on a quarterly basis when it is in use.

Oil: It is recommended to have the chimney swept once a year.

Gas: It is recommended to have the chimney swept once a year.

What should I do to prepare for the sweep?

Typically, a clear pathway from your door to the fire and sufficient workspace will be required. Please remove any decorations from the hearth, surrounding area, and mantelpiece. Ensure that the grate is free from ash, fuel debris, and refrain from using your appliance for 24 hours prior to my visit.

Will the sweeping make a mess?

If you are wondering about the quality of my sweeping services, rest assured that I have multiple effective techniques for dust suppression. Prior to the sweep, I will provide floor runners from your door to the appliance, dust sheets to cover the fireplace area, and sheets to seal off the fire or appliance area. Additionally, I use an industrial hepa-filter vacuum throughout the entire sweeping process to collect and contain soot and dust particles. However, in the rare circumstance that your chimney is heavily blocked, I will take extra precautions and consult with you prior to beginning the work. I guarantee that all work will be completed to the highest standard, leaving your home as clean as it was when I arrived.
